Why is it essential to have a bug out bag list PDF? Disasters and emergencies can strike unexpectedly, and when they do, you will have little to no time to prepare. It is too late to start wondering what items you should gather before you feel comfortable evacuating your home.
Gathering essential supplies for you and your family takes more time and consideration than you think. My sister only had a few minutes to run out the door before her home burnt down. There are accounts of tornado warning times of 13 minutes, 15 minutes for wildfires, and 20 minutes for tsunamis. This is barely enough time to gather your family in a vehicle and try to drive away from an oncoming disaster. There is more warning time with hurricanes, but they can turn direction and devastate nearby areas with flash flooding and power outages, leaving little to no time to gather supplies.
During an evacuation, you might be stuck in your car, emergency government-run shelter, at a hotel, seeking charity from friends or family, or camping because shelters and hotels are full. Supplies might be sold out wherever you end up. Make sure to have the basics already packed and ready to go for you and your family.
It is important to work out a budget, schedule, and list for acquiring all the items you’ll need or want in your bug out bag. By determining a budget, you’ll have time to shop around for sales and research the cost and quality of survival prepper gear.

do you have a HAM radio?
or do you just use walkies?
Great question! I do not have a HAM radio yet. I need to get licensed first with the FCC. Then there is the cost. For licensing, the HAM radio, and a class to train me I’m looking to spend around $300. It will take me a little while to save that up.

The Ham radio test is FREE online; with a practice test, they give you the answers! A top-line radio is less than $50 US.
